I have finally managed to get my teeth into some fabrication work
I used 18 gauge (1.2mm) NS4 half hard aluminium sheet (parker steel) for all of the chassis panels apart from the rear bulkhead (I will come to that later. I cut each of the panels out with my new to a plasma cutter (R-Tech), I don't know how I lived without this amaizing piece of kit, it is as the old saying goes; like a hot knife through butter. All I did was make a card template of each panel, masking taped it to the aluminim sheet and marked it out with a scribe. To plasma cut a straight line I g-clamped a straight edge 3mm away from the line I had marked out and ran the plasma cutter down it, easy and fast. To get a good finish on the edges of the aluminum I ran a file down it a couple of times and then a deburing tool, making it look perfect. The picture above shows the top of the foot wells clicoed in place (LAS aero) ready for the access panels for the pedal box and battery.
