After its second visit to Pro Comp I brought it back and gave it a lick of red oxide to make it look nice for the photos
Pedal Box 1. Pro Comp's own design welded in pedal box (copied by Westfield in later models!)
Pedal Box 2. This is a shot from the front of the pedal box with the clutch cable that passes through the chassis, this also shows the lower engine mount on the right hand side and extend chassis member on the right hand side linking the two lower inside corners of the foot wells, this stiffens the chassis up a great deal.
Upper Engine Mounts 1. The two upper engine mounts using the top chassis rail, the front mounted on a plate which is reinforced around two sides of the chassis rail to spread the weight and the rail is then braced to the original engine mounting plated with some 1/2" tube to stop any movement. The rear is mounted in the corner of the top chassis rail and the top foot well cross beam and therefore is supporting the corner and spreading the weight of the engine (simple and clever) this is also braced with a piece of 1/2" round tube down to the lower chassis rail.
Upper Engine Mount 2. Another shot of the front engine mount showing how the bracket will spread the weight.
Front End Bracing and Radiator Mounts. The front end showing cross bracing on the front bulkhead designed to stiffen up the front end of the car and also reinforce it if it ever has a whack, also modified was steering rack mount, this is designed to stiffen up the mounts to remove any movement. Also the heavy duty mounts for the lovely aluminium radiator.
Lots More Bracing. Here you can see the extra bracing under the scuttle area designed to stiffen up passenger compartments, the new steering rack mount is braced down to the drivers side bracing again with 1/2" tube. 2 extra 20mm square section tubes have also been fitted towards the front of the transmission tunnel under the top rear cross beam (as fitted to later Westfields from the factory). Towards the middle of the tunnel you will notice two more vertical uprights and a brace across the bottom, these are fitted to 'box in' the prop shaft in case of failure, at the same point another pair of horizontal cross beams are fitted across the passenger compartment to brace but also to retain the crutch straps on the 6 point harnesses. Towards the rear of the tunnel you will notice a plate as another safety feature if the prop shaft decides to let go.
Roll Cage and Seat Belt Mounts. As some of you may know, the kit supplied with a Caged roll cage is a bit basic, so I gave all the bits to Pro Comp and told them to weld in the mountings. Also fitted were some mounts for the harnesses on the top rear chassis cross beam.
